Frequently Asked Questions

Your one stop shop for everything you need to know to get started with therapy.

I get that it is a big decision. So, what are the benefits?

Therapy offers a safe, supportive space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. It can help you better understand yourself, manage stress, improve relationships, and develop healthier coping strategies. Whether you’re navigating a specific challenge or seeking personal growth, therapy can support meaningful and lasting change.

Your usual coping strategies aren’t working. What can you do?

If your usual coping strategies aren’t helping, it might be time to reach out for support. Talking to a counsellor can give you new tools, fresh perspective, and a safe space to work through what’s going on.

FAQ

What issues do you work with?

I support clients with anxiety, stress, trauma, identity, birth experiences, parenting challenges, men’s mental health, and more. If you’re wondering “Can a therapist help with feeling overwhelmed?” the answer is yes.

Do I need a referral to see you?

No referral is needed. You can contact me directly to book a session or arrange a free 30-minute consultation. If you decide upon therapy for yourself, we can discuss availability and pricing.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes, I offer secure, confidential online sessions for clients across Australia. Many people search “Can I see a counsellor online?” and are surprised how effective it can be.

How is payment made and am I eligible for a rebate?

Counsellors in Australia are not covered under Medicare, so unfortunately sessions with a counsellor cannot be claimed through the Medicare Benefits Schedule at this time.

However, you may still be eligible for other forms of financial support:

✔ Private Health Insurance

Many private health funds offer rebates for counselling, depending on your level of cover.
It’s best to check directly with your insurer to see whether counselling is included in your extras policy.

✔ NDIS (Self-Managed or Plan-Managed Participants)

People who are self-managed or plan-managed under the NDIS can choose to work with a private counsellor.
Counselling can be funded under Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living as Individual Therapeutic Supports, provided it aligns with your goals.

Is therapy right for me?

If you’re asking “Should I talk to someone?” or “How do I know if I need counselling?”, a free consultation is a great place to start.

What happens in a free consultation?

A free consultation is a relaxed, no-pressure 30-minute phone call where we chat about what’s going on for you and what kind of support you’re looking for. You can ask questions, get a feel for how I work, and decide if we’re a good fit before committing to ongoing sessions.
